We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to join the Moxymind team to work on a long term project for our global client in the heavy machinery and construction industry.
As a backend engineer with us, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services built primarily on Ruby on Rails. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with strong Ruby expertise who enjoys working on complex systems, and who is open to transitioning to Java in the future as the platform evolves technologically.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer with us you will:
- Analyze requirements and design, develop, test, and maintain backend components and services.
- Use best coding practices, established patterns, and Ruby/Rails frameworks to ensure high-quality and maintainable code.
- Work directly on complex application and technical problem identification and resolution.
- Collaborate closely within agile team.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and propose improvements to increase system performance and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Deploy and maintain software using CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Gradually engage in Java-based development as the project transitions to a hybrid tech stack.
What we expect from you:
- Have 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails, ideally on large-scale or complex projects.
- Be proficient in designing and developing REST APIs, working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and using background job frameworks such as Sidekiq.
- Have experience with cloud environments (e.g. AWS), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Have a solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Be open to learning and contributing to Java development.
